Network Upgrade And Rebuild

TRAJET

McCallie Associates engineered and converted the TRAJET (Nebraska) Novell network to Microsoft Windows NT.  This included resolving problems with connectivity to their corporate headquarters in California.  One of the major hurdles was to develop a solution to allow some of their propriety software to interface between different software operating systems (Novell in California and Windows NT in Nebraska).

Year 2000 (Y2K) Compliance and Upgrade

NORSTAN Consulting (For Good Samaritan Health Services)

McCallie Associates researched solutions, developed procedures, and coordinated Y2K upgrades for more than 600 Good Samaritan PCs at more than 300 client sites nationwide.  This involved setting up a unique team of specialists to perform the upgrades; developing procedures that could be understood and followed by a broad cross section of health care facility staff, scheduling and coordinating the times for performing the procedures, and “talking” the contacts at each site through the procedures.  The project was completed below budget and ahead of schedule.

Network Management Software Design and Development

IBM Corporation

McCallie Associates designed and developed system/network management software that IBM marketed as IBM Network Configuration Application/MVS.  This project included overall project management; software design, development, test, documentation; and engineering support.  We designed this software for use with IBM Information/Management and IBM Information/Systems family of network management system products.  The software provided for collection of information about equipment circuits and software.  It has the ability to create configuration representation for components in all types of network topologies and allows for creation of abstractions to represent collections of components.  A utility function transforms this data into the format required by the Resource Object Data Manager in IBM NetView for graphical views.

Configuration Mapping Utility Design

IBM Corporation

We designed a Configuration Mapping Utility to allow the importation of other databases into the NCA/MVS product and the export of NCA/MVS databases into other products.  The baseline product was designed to provide an initial interface between the products of other database manufacturers and IBM’s family of Information Management, Information Systems, and NetView products.

Enterprise Network Conversion

First National Bank of Omaha

McCallie Associates provided network engineering and integration consulting and technical services in support of the First National Bank of Omaha's conversion of their local and metropolitan area networks, which interconnect the bank's geographically diverse corporate complex and branch offices.  We provided planning consultation, network conversion, and network installation of a Microsoft LAN Manager-based, enterprise-wide network to replace their existing 3Com network.  The largest bank in Nebraska, these FNB networks service thousands of users and workstations.  The networks have multiple interfaces, IBM 3270 emulation, and TANDEM connectivity through T-1 circuits.

Network Installation

Omaha Airport Authority

We installed the local area network and integrated the microcomputer systems and peripherals at Eppley Airfield to interconnect all Omaha Airport Authority (OAA) management and administrative offices in the Airport Terminal building and two remote OAA facilities.  McCallie Associates integrated the file servers with duplex hard drives utilizing NetWare NOS interconnected via an Ethernet hub.  We also integrated MS Windows-based workstations, office automation applications, e-mail, fax, and remote dial-out services.  McCallie Associates developed a sub-network within the LAN utilizing MS Windows for Workgroups.  Remote facilities are attached to the LAN via dial-up modems attached through a remote communications device connected to the hub allowing users to dial out to remote services.

Enterprise Network Workstation Migration

Union Pacific Railroad

McCallie Associates performed enterprise network engineering and host-remote systems connectivity consulting services on large-scale Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) workstation migration projects in support of Union Pacific Technologies (UPT).  McCallie Associates developed migration plans, tested all current programs, made changes as necessary, then upgraded the workstations from Attachmate Extra 4.X for Windows to Extra Personal Client 6.X (32-bit) and migrated the PCs from MS Windows for Workgroups 3.X to NT Workstation.  Also, McCallie Associates developed a Novell NetWare training manual and curriculum and provided training to all UPT LAN administrators in Omaha and St. Louis.

Network Installation

CBS Home Real Estate

McCallie Associates installed networks and integrated PCs, software, and peripheral equipment in CBS HOME Real Estate’s headquarters facility and their branches located throughout the Omaha Metropolitan Area.  CBS Home Realty is the largest residential real estate broker in Nebraska, and is among the 500 largest realty companies in the United States.

This network installation project included the installation of servers for dedicated print and Microsoft Exchange services, cable installation, and the integration of a large number of desktop and laptop computers, hubs, and printers.  Integrated Microsoft Windows as the operating System, Microsoft Office as the applications software suite, and integrated other real estate industry standard and proprietary application software.

Materials Order Entry and Distribution System

Lyman-Richey Corporation

McCallie Associates designed and developed an order entry and transmission system for the Lyman-Richey Corporation, Nebraska’s largest sand and gravel company.  This system allows automated entry, scheduling and transmission of orders for construction products and cement.  The order entry system enhances Lyman-Richey dispatchers’ ability to control service requests during peak periods by allowing product orders to be entered into the system, checked and transmitted to the product or supporting ready-mix plant for delivery.  Order data is captured and stored in a database for statistical analysis and reporting.  The system supports order-entry personnel operating on a Novell Network at the seven regional L-R facilities.  McCallie wrote this system in C++, and used a Paradox Engine for the database.  The system recently helped L-R make national headlines by scheduling the flawless dispatch and delivery of over 5000 truckloads of cement in the largest single pour in the Midwest – the foundation of the 42-story First National Bank building in Omaha.

Database Systems Development

Omaha Airport Authority

McCallie Associates designed, developed, and implemented database systems for the Omaha Airport Authority (OAA) that automated the management of the OAA fire and rescue operations, flight operations, and flight scheduling functions in the Airport Terminal building and two remote OAA facilities.  Using Paradox, we developed these systems to collectively automate their Incident Reporting System, Operations NOTAM(notice to airmen) File, Communications Center Daily Operations Log, Work Orders File, Pavement Audit Records, Alert Files, and Transient Gate Use Schedules.  Following implementation of the systems, we provided one-on-one training to all users.

Case Location and Information Management System (Claims)

Technology Management Resources (TMR)

McCallie Associates participated in the Technology Management Resources’ proprietary Case Location and Information Management System (CLAIMS) development project.  This System provides state child support enforcement agencies a more successful, efficient, and cost-effective methods of locating non-custodial parents who have child-support obligations, but have stopped making payments and cannot be found.  Our participation in this project included the finalization of the CLAIMS system design, and the development of the database and database utility routines (using Paradox).  Our support also included the development of software that utilizes SMART.ALX to interface with credit bureaus, executes credit bureau inquiries, formats credit bureau information, and prepares enforcement and statistical reports.

Business Management and Accounting System

Signs and Shapes, International

Using Paradox for Windows, we designed and developed a system to automate Signs and Shapes’ accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory accounting functions.  The system includes reports generation of customer lists, rental schedules, accounts payable and due, accounts receivable and due, payments received, rental and sale invoices, shipping schedules, and mailing labels.  We also developed statistical reports used to monitor item utilization, production time for building new products, and customer rental patterns.

Telephone Usage Statistical Reports System

Travel and Transport, Inc.

McCallie Associates designed and developed the Statistical Reporting System for Travel and Transport, Inc, the 12th largest travel agency in the United States specializing in corporate and leisure travel.  We developed this application using C++, and the database using the Paradox Windows Engine and Reporting Facilities.

The system captures and stores data from the inbound telephone system, automates the compilation of statistical data, analysis of productivity, and effectiveness of inbound telephone sales.  The SRS enhances management’s ability to analyze data that will assist them in forecasting workloads and peak periods, scheduling their workload, and developing trend analysis.  The trends are developed using both historical data and captured data and can be re-utilized in statistical quality control processes.
